One of the main barriers to autonomy is stable employment. As a leader in addiction treatment, St. Jude’s Recovery Center Residential Treatment Programs provide essential and innovative support services to help clients maintain their recovery. For 57 years, St. Jude’s Recovery Center has helped homeless and uninsured individuals with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders rebuild their lives to become healthy, self-sufficient, productive individuals.
The Employment Readiness program at St. Jude’s Recovery Center helps clients accomplish the difficult task of finding a job with minimal prior experience and/or past criminal history. Clients meet individually with Employment Specialists to cultivate and improve their job readiness and vocational skills, which are critical for obtaining and maintaining stable employment with higher wages and competitive benefits. Increasing vocational status helps clients have a greater consciousness of community and a greater sense of self-sufficiency. Services include job training, resume writing, job search and interviewing skills, career counseling, and post-employment support.
“Helping each client believe in their own capabilities is what drives them to improve their self-esteem and self-worth,” said Employment Specialist Michelle King. “We teach our clients that whatever is meant for you will be for you, no one can take that away.”
